How much flooring do I need?
Measure the room length and width and multiply them for the area. Add a waste allowance of 10–15% for cuts, mistakes and irregular rooms.
- Hardwood, laminate and LVP are sold per square foot (or per square metre).
- Tile is often sold per box — check the box's coverage before buying.
- Laminate starts around $1/sq ft; engineered hardwood from $4–$9/sq ft.
