How many bricks do I need?
Brick count depends on the wall area and the size of the brick plus its mortar joint. A standard UK brick with a 10 mm joint needs about 60 bricks per square metre; a US modular brick with a 3/8-inch joint needs about 6.9 bricks per square foot.
- This estimate is for a single-skin (one-brick-thick) wall — double it for a solid double wall.
- Add 5–10% for cuts, breakage and waste.
- Bricks are typically sold in packs of around 400–500.
